DAVID HOPE & THE HENCHMEN (Irl)
Scannells :: Saturday 17th September :: 4.30pm
Bernies :: Sunday 18th September :: 5.30pm
David Hope & The Henchmen echo the classic rural American recordings of Lightnin' Hopkins and Hank Williams mixing it up with the Irish trad folk of Planxty, great songwriters like Tom Waits and Steve Earle & the contemporary Americana sounds of Calexico and Gillian Welch.
What results is a poitín still mix of vintage country blues, foot-stompin' American mountain folk & alt country twang.
The band have recorded their first single, 'Hell or High Water' produced by Declan Sinnott which was released in April 2011 and is now available to download from iTunes, Amazon and CD Baby.
Press:
"David Hope & The Henchmen are one of the very best Roots-related outfits operating at present. They seamlessly blend Folk and Roots inflections with grittily intelligent lyrics and enviably catchy choruses which simply cry out for airplay. They've finally got all that down on record and they’ve pulled it off in style. Game on."
