Comprised of four acclaimed virtuosi of the guitar, jazz guitarist Hugh Buckley, classical guitarist John Feeley, folk guitarist and composer Dave Flynn, and one Congolese guitarist/singer Niwel Tsumbu explore a cosmopolitan world of music, including the traditional music of Ireland, modern jazz, Brazilian Bossa Nova, Congolese rumbas, early and contemporary classical music and new compositions by group members.

Hugh Buckley – Jazz Guitar

Dublin born self taught guitarist/composer Hugh Buckley has performed throughout Europe, the U.S and in Argentina with a wide array of international artists, working as a sideman and also leading his own groups. Some of these artists include; James Williams, Georgie Fame, Guy Barker, Brad Mehldau, Van Morrison, Ronnie Drew, Louis Stewart, Lisa Stansfield. Christine Tobin, Bobby Wellins, Spike Robinson, Ruben Gonzales, Joe Temperley and John Wadham.

He has three cds under his own name,”Yes Indeed” (1998), “Spirit Level” (2001) and “Sketches of Now” (2007). He was recently the subject of an hour long tv documentary, “The Living Bridge –A Family Affair.”

Hugh is producer, arranger and guitarist on the legendary Ronnie Drews 2008 platinum selling CD release “The Last Session - A Fond Farewell”.

John Feeley – Classical Guitar

John Feeley has made recordings with K-Tel, Gael-Linn Records, CBA Classics, Ossiain Records, Castle Communications, Blackbox Music and a CD of the music of Irish composer John Buckley with the German company, Celestial Harmonies. He has also recorded with the Chieftains and famous Spanish Soprano Montserrat Caballes.

Concerts have taken him around the world and include appearances at the Sydney Opera House, the Old Opera House, Frankfurt, the L'Arena in Verona, and New York's Carnegie Hall. He has won a number of prizes in international competitions, including the Special Award for interpretation in the 1984 Mauro Giuliani competition, Italy.

Dave Flynn – Traditional Irish Guitar

Dave Flynn is an award-winning Irish composer and musician from Dublin. His music has been performed by internationally acclaimed artists including Martin Hayes and Dennis Cahill, the RTÉ Concert Orchestra, the Prague Chamber Orchestra, the New Juilliard Ensemble and the Dublin Guitar Quartet of whom Dave was a founding member. He has travelled internationally for performances at the Museum of Modern Art, New York; Dvorak Hall, Prague; Bridgewater Hall, Manchester and Ireland’s National Concert Hall.

He is the recipient of numerous awards including the 2004 Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival Composers Award and the 2002 IMRO Composition Award. His guitar music has been published by Mel Bay Publications and Frisbee Publications. He recently released his second album ‘Contemporary Traditional Irish Guitar’ to widespread acclaim.

Niwel Tsumbu – Congolese Guitar

Raised on the traditional Soukous and Rumba music of his homeland, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Niwel began playing from an early age and went on to study both jazz and classical guitar. Niwel moved to Ireland in 2004 where he quickly became friends with the Irish music scene. He has played at many festivals around Ireland including The Dun Laoghaire Festival of World Cultures, The Bray Jazz Festival and Limerick Global Beats Festival.

Playing electric & acoustic guitars & singing mostly in his native 'Lingala', Niwel plays a range of music that stretches from Congolese traditional music to modern Jazz. Niwel has supported the likes of Kila, The Wailers and Horace Andy and he has three acclaimed albums to his name.
